A public IP address identifies your internet connection when websites, apps, and online services communicate with your device or network. It is usually assigned by your internet service provider and can change depending on your network, router, mobile carrier, VPN, or hosting provider.
IP location shows the approximate country, region, city and time zone associated with your public address. ISP tells you which network provider announces the connection, while ASN identifies the autonomous system responsible for routing the address on the internet. This is useful when checking whether a VPN is active, confirming a server region, diagnosing routing problems, or understanding why a website may show region-specific content.
IP geolocation is based on network ownership and routing databases. It can often estimate the country, region, or city, but it is not the same as GPS and should not be treated as an exact physical address.
IPv4 is the classic address format used by most networks. IPv6 is newer and supports a much larger address space. Some internet connections support both, while others expose only one address family.
